Freeman Wills Crofts. The Sea Mystery. London: [1928]. First edition.
Freeman Wills Crofts. The Sea Mystery. An Inspector French Case. London: W. Collins Sons & Co., [1928]. First edition. Octavo. v, [1], 277, [5] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine skewed; spine ends pushed with some minor wear; joints slightly worn; mild rubbing to boards with a couple of small drip stains at front; trace of wear along bottom edges. Top edge of text block slightly dust-soiled, with a handful of faint speckles of foxing; a few tiny, scattered stains to remaining edges; remains of brown paper tape at both pastedowns, where dust jacket appears to have been affixed to book. Exposed panels of dust jacket rubbed and creased, with several tears reinforced at verso with brown paper, including one running the vertical length of rear panel; chipping along edges, particularly at spine and flap fold ends; tear extending about 2.25 inches up front panel fold and about one inch into spine panel; edges of flaps rumpled; one flap with brown paper at fore-edge, brown paper torn up at fore-edge of other flap, causing loss to surface of paper. Very good book in a good jacket.
