Three volumes in publisher's orange cloth, spines and fronts lettered in black, one volume in black cloth, spine and front lettered in orange; all text block edges trimmed; one volume (earlier-issue Sudden Death) in original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends pushed and worn; Guildford backstrip faded slightly; a bit of soiling to Channel and later-issue Sudden Death backstrips; light to moderate soiling to boards, heaviest at Guildford and later-issue Sudden Death; trace of wear along bottom edges; bumps to corners and edges. Varying amounts of foxing and spot-staining to text block edges; uneven discoloration at endpapers, from aging binding materials; light foxing at endpapers of earlier-issue Sudden Death, with crease at front free endpaper and bookseller's ticket at front pastedown; effaced writing at upper corner of front pastedown of later-issue Sudden Death; a couple of volumes with foxing to first and last few leaves of text block, with milder, marginal soiling scattered throughout remainder of interiors. Jacket heavily chipped at head and foot of spine panel, with one chip at foot, roughly 1.5 inches square, reattached with glue and clear tape at verso; rubbing with some mild soiling and staining at exposed panels; edges rumpled with a few short tears; milder chipping at flap fold ends; folds softly creased and worn. Scattered speckles of foxing at verso. Very good books; jacket in good condition.
