Fergus Hume. The Man with a Secret. London: 1890. First edition.
Fergus Hume. The Man with a Secret. A Novel. London: F. V. White & Co., 1890. First edition. Three volumes. Octavo. [8], 232; [8], 227, [1]; [8], 204, [16, ads] pages. Publisher's dark blue cloth, spines lettered in gilt, fronts lettered in red with decorative blind-stamping, publisher's initials stamped in blind at rear; all text block edges trimmed. Spines skewed; spine ends softened and just slightly bent and worn; minor trace of wear along joints; a bit of light rubbing and soiling to boards; wear along bottom edges; corners tapped. Text blocks faintly dulled with age; edges foxed; top edges darkened; free endpapers of last two volumes toned from exposure to pastedowns; spines split in several places throughout interiors, but still sound; occasional spot of marginal foxing scattered throughout interior. Very good.
