    Fergus Hume. The Crime of the "'Liza Jane." London: Ward, Lock & Bowden, 1895. First edition. Octavo. viii, 248 pages. Frontispiece and one additional inserted plate by George Hutchinson. Publisher's bright green cloth, spine and front stamped in gilt, black and red; all text block edges trimmed. Spine leaning; spine ends softened, very slightly pushed and worn; mild rubbing with some very faint smudging and spots of soiling to boards; upper corners tapped; trace of wear along bottom edges. Text block edges dulled and foxed; a few gatherings sprung; endpapers unevenly browned; first and last couple of leaves foxed, with further sparse foxing and thumbsoiling scattered at margins throughout. Very good.

Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front stamped in white and bronze; text block edges untrimmed. Spine ends pushed, just starting to fray at foot; minimal wear along joints; boards slightly rubbed, with a few specks of soiling at rear; wear along bottom edges; corners bumped. Text block edges softly dulled; top edge darkened; trace of rubbing and foxing along bottom edge; previous owner bookplate at front pastedown; several pages roughly opened; marginal foxing scattered throughout interior. Very good.
