Jacket spine toned and chipped, jacket worn with several tears and chips, a few tape repairs to verso, some thumbsoiling to jacket, cloth spine very slightly sunned, a few very light scuff marks to front board, upper edge of text block foxed, text very lightly toned. Skewed. Overall, a very good copy.
This suspenseful novel was the basis for the 1938 Hitchcock classic, The Lady Vanishes, which was a critical and commercial success. Hitchcock won the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Director, the only time in his distinguished career he won an award for directing.
