Publisher's green cloth, spine stamped in gilt, front with ruled border stamped in blind; all edges of the textblock trimmed; in the original illustrated dust jacket. Very minor shelf wear at extremities of binding; spine ends gently pushed; slight bumping to corners. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block; a small amount of speckling to top edge; a couple of small spot stains to bottom and fore-edge. Small stab mark toward head of front hinge; two or three spots of marginal soiling at interior. A bit of chipping at spine and flap fold ends of jacket; short split at bottom of front joint fold; tiny gouge at bottom of spine panel; mild rubbing and darkening with a few spots of soiling at exposed panels of jacket; slight wear along top edge, joint and flap folds. Minor toning at verso. Near fine. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
