    Description

Erle Stanley Gardner. The Case of the Deadly Toy. New York: Morrow, [1959]. First edition. Inscribed.

    More Information:

Erle Stanley Gardner. The Case of the Deadly Toy. New York: William Morrow, [1959]. First edition. Inscribed by Gardner to his friend, Dr. Robert Brittain, a forensic scientist who taught a course at Harvard, which Gardner attended.

Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To/Dr. Rob Brittain/with all the Best/from one of his/pupils./Yours/Erle Stanley Gardner/Dec 1958". Octavo. [xii], 272, [2, list of author's works], [2, blank] pages. Publisher's binding, dust jacket. Jacket spine a bit sunned, some rubbing and mild edgewear to jacket, evidence of careful tape removal from verso of jacket, mild rubbing to binding, a few very small stains on front endleaves (not affecting inscription), tiny area of sticker residue on rear pastedown. Still, very good. Gardner attended Brittain's course on forensic medicine in the 1950's, and the two became close friends (Gardner had even dedicated The Case of the One-Eyed Witness (Morrow, 1950) to him).

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
