    More Information:

Eric Ambler. A Coffin for Dimitrios. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1939. First U. S. edition, first published in London by Hodder & Stoughton as The Mask of Dimitrios. Octavo. [xiv], 281, [1] pages. Publisher's light gray cloth, front board and spine decoratively stamped, spine lettered and rear board stamped with publisher's device in dark red; top edge stained dark red, others rough trimmed; in original dust jacket. Spine gently leaning; bottom edges lightly rubbed with a touch of wear at bottom corners. Topstain with a series of small splashes. Front endpaper with a soft diagonal crease; small bit of soiling to fore edge of rear endpaper. Dust jacket edges lightly worn at spine ends and folds; short closed tear to top edge of rear panel with faint corresponding crease; occasional tiny chip; light soiling to white background of rear panel; soft diagonal creasing to front flap; small blemish to rear flap at fold; small, very faint damptstain at crown, visible only on verso. Still a nice, very good copy. Basis for the 1944 Jean Negulesco film starring Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet and Zachary Scott. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone. From the KoKo Collection.
