First edition, signed by Frederic Dannay, one-half of the pair that wrote as Ellery Queen, on the title-page. Octavo. [x], 325, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's red cloth, spine lettered in black, front board lettered and decoratively stamped in black, in original restored dust jacket. Very gentle spine lean; minimal wear to spine ends and corners; touch of soiling along bottom edge of front board. Very faint offsetting to front endpapers; small stain to front free endpaper. Dust jacket restored at spine ends, with a couple letters supplied in manuscript ink, and at upper edge of front flap fold; large (approximately three inches) closed tear to front panel expertly mended on the verso; short interior closed tear to spine panel with paper repair on verso; vertical crease to rear panel near spine fold; occasional insignificant soiling. A near fine copy in a very presentable restored jacket. The seventh Ellery Queen mystery. From the KoKo Collection.
