First edition. Five volumes. Octavo. Various paginations. One volume in publisher's blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt; one volume in red publisher's cloth, spine lettered in black; three volumes in publisher's red paper-covered boards, spines lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed; original dust jackets, printed in black and dark red, all but one on yellow paper. Feet of spines pushed; a handful of spine ends faded; Creek and Cousin backstrips faded; gilt lettering to Mary Anne tarnished; soft crease to spine of Scapegoat; very subtle soiling to cloth-covered boards; light wear at bottom edges; a few corners bumped. Text blocks softly dulled from age, Creek lightly browned; a touch of speckling to edges of Cousin and Mary Anne; two books with bookseller's ticket or stamp; occasional light foxing scattered throughout interiors. General light rubbing to jackets, with some soft creasing; all but one jacket lightly sunned at spine panel; three jackets with chipping or nicking at spine ends; Creek spine panel dampstained; light wear resulting in color loss at panel folds of Cousin; Scapegoat with hole at rear panel fold and moderately-sized chip out of top edge of rear panel; further faint dampstaining and soiling at rear panel of Creek; three tiny holes from insect damage at front panel and flap fold of Breaking Point; short tear at bottom of front panel of Cousin; some slight chipping and nicking at flap fold ends; spot of soiling at rear panel of Mary Anne. Mild, uneven discoloration at versos of jackets. Very good to near fine.
