Cornell Woolrich. Times Square. New York: Horace Liveright, 1929. First edition. Octavo (7.375 x 5.25 inches; 188 x 132 mm.). [iv], 274, [2, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine and front board lettered in white, front board stamped in white, publisher's device stamped in blind on the backstrip; top edge of text block trimmed, others untrimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, priced $2.00. Spine very gently leaning; boards just barely bowed; bottom of the spine very softly pushed; corners and spine ends very lightly worn; white ink on the front board with a touch of rubbing; faint, light scuff to the rear board. Tiny, two-character, rubber stamp on the rear free endpaper just above a small bruise. Dust jacket verso discolored from two seemingly unnecessary one and one-half inch adhesive strips affixed at the center of the horizontal edges, covering the width spine panel and the interior portions of the front and rear panels (about two and one-half inches in both directions), discoloration noticeable but not intrusive on the recto; spine panel very lightly dust-soiled; flap folds tanned; a few closed tears (the longest about one inch long, the others less than half that); a few nicks at the spine ends and fold edges. A near fine copy in a presentable, very good jacket. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
