    More Information:

Cornell Woolrich. The Time of Her Life. New York: Horace Liveright, [1931]. First edition. Octavo (7.375 x 5.25 inches; 188 x 132 mm.). 301, [1], [2, blank] pages. Publisher's light yellowish-brown cloth, front board ruled in red, spine and front board lettered in black; top edge of the text block stained red, other edges untrimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket. Spine somewhat cocked; backstrip tanned; rear board with a light red blemish; covers lightly soiled; edges with a hint of wear; corners slightly bent. Text block sagging just a hair; front free endpaper discolored with an indentation from an old paperclip, since removed, with staining to the paste-down, half-title page, with a small hole worn through the leaf, and, to a lesser extent, the title-page; half-title leaf lightly foxed.  Dust jacket tattered, lacking a sizeable portion of the spine; edges worn with a few large chips across the top edge; spine-panel faded; front panel with some bruising at the top part of the illustration; verso with several old tape reinforcements along the folds and edges and a few pencil notations; price-clipped. A very good copy in a fair-but present-dust jacket. New York Times Review of Books slip laid in, with the publication date (January 30, 1931) and price ($2.00) filled in. Rare in any sort of jacket with no auction records found in Rare Book Hub. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
