    Cornell Woolrich. Nightmare. New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, [1956]. First edition. Octavo (7.9375 x 5.25 inches; 201 x 135 mm.). [2, blank], [x], 242, [2, blank] pages. Publisher's light bluish-green paper-covered boards, spine lettered in yellow, Red Badge Detective device stamped in yellow on the spine and front board; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, priced $2.95. Spine ends and corners only a trifle rubbed. Top edge of text with only a hint of dust-soiling. Dust jacket edges with only routine minimal wear, with a couple tiny closed tears to the bottom of the spine panel and to the upper edge of the rear panel; rear panel very lightly rubbed; front flap with a couple very soft kinks; hint of soiling to the rear flap fold. Nearly fine. The title-short, originally published as "And So to Death" in Argosy magazine in 1941, served as the basis for two film adaptations, one in 1946, the other in 1956, the latter staring Edward G. Robinson.

Spine ends dulled just a shade; only a touch of wear to the extremities. Top edge of the text very lightly dust-soiled. Dust jacket spine panel with only a hint of fading, much less that often seen; rear panel fold very lightly rubbed; very short closed tear to the top edge of the front panel. Nearly fine.
