    C. L. Pirkis. The Experiences of Loveday Brooke. Lady Detective. London: Hutchinson & Co., 1894. First edition. Octavo. [4], 329, [1] pages. Frontispiece and in-text illustrations. Publisher's red cloth, spine and front lettered in gilt, decorative paper label at front; all text block edges trimmed. Spine skewed; spine ends bumped; boards rubbed, with some light soiling, surface of paper label at front mostly worn away; what appears to be some shallow insect damage toward fore-edge of front board; mild wear along edges; corners tapped, with boards peeking through. Text block softly dulled; insect damage along fore-edge; upper corners bumped; some mild foxing at front endpapers; bookseller's ticket at front pastedown, previous owner signature at front free endpaper, with evidence of label removed at upper corner; stamp at title-page. Very good.
