Arthur Conan Doyle. The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. London: John Murray, [1927]. First edition, colonial issue, with Murray's Imperial Library catalog, binding and dust jacket. Octavo (7.375 x 4.75 inches; 187 x 121 mm.). 320 pages with a twelve-page catalog inserted at rear. Publisher's light gray cloth spine and front board lettered in dark blue ("Murray's Imperial Library" lettered on the front board); front board ruled in dark blue; page edges trimmed; plain endpapers. Boards very lightly splayed; backstrip rubbed with thin layers of the surface partially worn away; a couple small repairs made to the spine ends; bottom corners softly bumped. Page edges very lightly soiled; few instances of very mild over-opening; bibliographic notes penciled on the front pastedown. A very good copy with most of the original dust jacket, lacking the front flap, portions of the crown and the bottom two inches of the spine panel continuing to the rear panel with a missing triangular piece (two-and-a-half inches tall and one-and-one-half inches at the base); all missing portions replaced with low-quality printed facsimile. Rear panel and flap folds split and since repaired, a couple closed tears on the rear panel also repaired; a long crease across the center of the front and spine panels; other light wear with a hint of soiling. Uncommon in any sort of dust jacket. From the collection of Bob Terry.
