March 26, 1936." Seven volumes. Octavo and small quarto. Various paginations. Romance of Elaine with photographic reproductions inserted as plates on coated paper. Five volumes in full publisher's cloth, fronts and spines stamped; one volume in paper-covered boards; final volume in illustrated paper wrappers, saddle-stapled. Four volumes with original illustrated dust jackets. Majority of edges trimmed; one volume with untrimmed bottom and fore-edge; Mysterious Birth untrimmed. Overall mild shelf wear with a few light bumps to bindings; purple bindings a bit faded at spine ends with a touch of dust-soiling along top edge; lettering chipped at backstrip of Romance of Elaine, but still legible; inked "M" to spine of Kidnap Club; one or two small splashes, areas of soiling. A bit of wear to boards of Mysterious Birth, particularly at spine ends; small gouge at fore-edge of rear board with paper pulled up; a bit of bumping; general, fairly mild soiling, foxing. Wrappers of Aroma split from top of center fold to below first staple, but still sound. Normal age toning to edges and interiors of text block; some light dust-soiling to top edges; a bit of rubbing to remaining edges. Previous owner gift inscription to front pastedown of Kidnap Club, along with residue where bookplate appears to have been removed; Maine Charitable Mechanic Association Library rules tipped to front pastedown of Romance of Elaine, with accompanying stamp at free endpaper; rear endpapers of Mysterious Birth a bit soiled; occasional light discoloration to other endpapers at edges or hinges. Minimal paper loss to spine and flap fold ends of jackets; light edge wear; overall very mild toning and rubbing; one or two short tears; minor wear to folds; slight sunning to spine panel of Kidnap Club; three sets of flaps clipped. Small tape repair at head of spine panel at verso of Kidnap Club jacket. Overall, near fine to very nearly fine. Mysterious Birth with birth certificate for Stephen Yates laid in at rear.
