Octavo. vi, 540, [2] pages. Publisher's full brick cloth; front stamped in black; spine lettered in gilt. All edges trimmed. Endpapers printed with publisher's ads. Spine slightly skewed. Mild shelf wear to extremities of binding and at joints; spine ends gently pushed; minor rubbing with one or two spots of soiling at rear board visible only in raking light. Top edge of text block dust-soiled; normal age toning with one or two spots of foxing to remaining edges. Bookseller's ticket affixed to rear free endpaper. Near fine. Green's third novel and third to feature her detective Ebenezer Gryce.
