    Anna Katharine Green. A Strange Disappearance. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1880. First edition. Octavo. 280, [4, publisher's ads] pages. Publisher's paper wrappers, printed in dark red and pale green. All edges trimmed. Mild toning to backstrip with some slight paper loss at ends; minor edge and joint wear; rear wrapper beginning to split away from backstrip at bottom; a few scattered spots of soiling; a handful of soft creases. Regular toning and wear to edges of text block; white spot at top edge as a result of white soiling, staining at upper margin extending approximately from pages 70-170. Some bumping at text block corners. Very good. Green's second novel.

    [Together with:] Hand and Ring. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1883. First edition. Octavo. v, [1], 608 pages. Frontispiece and three additional inserted plates; one inserted folding map. Publisher's paper wrappers, printed in red and green. All edges trimmed. Slightly skewed; wrappers toned with light wear at edges, and joints; front and rear starting to split at both joint ends with small chip out of top corner of rear; soft creasing to wrappers and backstrip; a few mid spots of foxing, soiling, with inked signature to front; tidemark along inner edge of rear. Toning, wear, and speckles of foxing to edges of text block; bump at bottom rear affects final few leaves. Very few spots of marginal thumb-soiling scattered throughout interior; some marginal penciling; speckling to verso of final leaf. Very good.

    [And:] The Mill Mystery. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1886. First edition. Octavo. 389, [1], [2, publisher's ads] pages. Publisher's paper wrappers, printed in red and green. All edges trimmed. Wrappers toned, particularly at backstrip; mild wear to edges and joints with some soft creasing at backstrip; a few spots of staining, mostly at rear wrapper. Normal age toning with scattered small speckles of foxing at edges of text block. Occasional penciling, mostly marginal, throughout interior. About near fine. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
