Publisher's full bright orange cloth, front and spine lettered in black; fore-edge trimmed, others untrimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Minor shelf wear at extremities of binding; spine ends slightly pushed; small spots of white soiling at base of spine and bottom corner of rear board; mild discoloration along top edges and at middle of front. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block; a bit of darkening and dust-soiling to top edge. Previous owner bookplate tipped to front pastedown; uneven opening to a few leaves toward the rear of text block; one or two tiny spots of soiling at margins. Edge wear to jacket resulting in small chips, tears, and soft creasing, with longest tear, along top edge, reaching 1.25 inches in length; spine panel sunned with gouge resulting in semicircle tear at rear joint; rubbing and slight abrasions at exposed panels. Rubbing and mild uneven toning at verso. Near fine book in a very good jacket. Featuring three additional short stories not present in the true first edition, published the year before the collection's first appearance in the United States. Queen's Quorum 71.
