[viii], 298, [14] pages. Publisher's full green cloth, front and spine stamped in black; all edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Mild shelf wear at extremities of binding; boards ever so slightly splayed. Normal light toning to edges and interior of text block; a bit of foxing; upper front corner of text block bumped, resulting in some rumpling to page corners. Occasional spots of foxing scattered throughout. Moderate amount of rubbing, soiling, and splashing to exposed panels of jacket; light wear along edges and folds; fairly small chips from spine and flap fold ends; a bit of fraying along top edge. Small amount of foxing and a few small tidemarks at verso of jacket; tape repair at top of front flap fold. Near fine in a very good jacket. With engraved bookplate of The Detection Club, by Tony Ardizzone, tipped to front pastedown. The Detection Club, formed in 1930, counted among its members many of the most popular British mystery and detective fiction writers of the day, including Christie, G. K. Chesterton, Baroness Emma Orczy, Anthony Berkeley, and Dorothy L. Sayers. Queen's Quorum 71.
