London: [Olympic Theatre], 1871. First edition. Octavo (7.875 x 5 inches; 198 x 125 mm.). 16 pages. Publisher's illustrated white paper wrappers; all edges trimmed. Slight wear and soiling along center fold of wrappers with just a touch of nicking at each end; wrappers very lightly rubbed with just a handful of spots of foxing around edges; a trace of spot- and thumbsoiling to front wrapper, which is lacking lower corner. Interior leaves slightly yellowed from age; occasional, very faint foxing at lower corners; slight offsetting onto verso of front wrapper and recto of first leaf, from item previously laid in; small tear at fore-edge margin of first leaf, with a couple of small chips out of lower corner; pinhole at fore-edge margin of leaf containing pages 5 and 6. Near fine. Selection of press coverage for Wilkie Collins' stage adaptation of his 1859-1860 novel, The Woman in White, a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone book regarded as one of the first mystery novels and a popular early example of the sensation novel.
