"Waters." Recollections of a Detective Police-Officer. London: J. & C. Brown & Co., 1856. First English edition. Twelvemo. 309, [3] pages. Engraved frontispiece, included in pagination. Publisher's original yellow illustrated boards; text block edges trimmed. Backstrip chipped, worn, and creased, with upper third of backstrip replaced; joints cracked, but still sound; boards rubbed with scratches and some general mild soiling; wear around edges, with boards exposed; corners bumped. Text block softly rippled; trace of foxing and specks of soiling to endpapers, with a bit of uneven discoloration to rear free endpaper from exposure to pastedown; occasional mild spots of soiling scattered throughout interior. Very good, particularly given the age and fragile nature of the item. Housed in custom red cloth chemise in one-quarter red morocco book-backed slipcase; book label of Florence and Edward Kaye inside top flap of chemise. Queen's Quorum 2; a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone.
