[R. Austin Freeman and John J. Pitcairn]. Clifford Ashdown. The Adventures of Romney Pringle. London: Ward, Lock & Co., 1902. First book edition of six stories that originally appeared in Cassell's Magazine. Octavo (7.625 x 4.875 inches; 194 x 123 mm.). 198, [2, ads] pages; frontispiece and three additional illustrated plates by Fred Pegram inserted throughout. Publisher's blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front board lettered in gilt and decoratively stamped in white. Backstrip faintly dulled; joints and board edges lightly worn; stamped illustration on front board partially rubbed away. Hinges starting, but still secure; some over-opening throughout, mostly between gatherings; tissue guard on frontis potentially remounted. Very good. Housed in a chemise and custom clamshell case. Queen's Quorum 30 ("only six copies of the first edition are known to exist," though since Queen's Quorum was published, more have surfaced; this copy not specifically identified in their census). Ex-Florence and Edward Kaye, with their morocco book label in the chemise. From the KoKo Collection.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
