    More Information:

[Mickey Spillane]. Archive of Early-Career Letters, Documents and Ephemera. [Various places: circa 1950s]. Collection of items from when Spillane was trying to assert himself in Hollywood, including: a five-page Biographical Form from dated May 26, 1950, likely in preparation for My Gun Is Quick or Vengeance Is Mine; a couple typed letters, signed, from Spillane (some to Elliott Graham); numerous typed letters, signed, address to Spillane (from Robert Fellows, Bud Yorkin, Stan Purdy, Victor Saville, and one from Burt Lancaster on Norma Productions letterhead); eight promotional photographs, including studio stills (single and double weight, likely early restrikes); many newspaper clippings; some miscellaneous magazines and other ephemera (with some xerographic copies). In individual plastic sleeves, housed together in a new three-ring binder. [Together with:] Copies of Unproduced (in Spillane's lifetime) Radio Scripts. Including an early mechanical reproduction of "There's a Killer Loose!" and a recent xerographic copy of 1951's "The Night I Died." General handling wear, some creased, toned or worn; discoloration from staples or paperclips. Very good overall. From the Estate of Mickey Spillane.

After his debut novel, I, the Jury, in 1947, Spillane didn't publish another work until My Gun Is Quick in 1950, which was followed by five more novels before the end of 1952. Spillane didn't write another novel until 1961's The Deep. In the years between, he tried to establish his brand in Hollywood, even as an actor playing himself in 1954's Ring of Fear.
