    Description

[Cyril Hare]. [An English Murder]. [London: n.d., ca. 1951]. Original Holograph Manuscript. Written in black ink by Hare, with the author's autograph corrections. On quarto-sized white typing paper (approximately 11 x 8.5 inches; 280 x 215 mm). 379 leaves. Without a title-leaf (it is unclear if there was ever a title-leaf with this collection). Text of novel on rectos; on versos of the leaves are various other hand-written articles or stories by Hare, and some occasional typed letters addressed to him (apparently, this novel was written on previously-used paper). Leaves are toned, with occasional creasing, foxing, marginal chipping, and thumbsoiling. Very good. Chemised in slipcase.

Published originally in 1951, this English country-house murder mystery was well-received. In 2019, The Guardian proclaimed it one of the "Top 10 golden age detective novels."
