More Information: [Cornell Woolrich]. Night Has a Thousand Eyes. By George Hopley (pseudonym). New York: Farrar & Reinhart, [1945]. First edition. Octavo (7.4375 x 5.125 inches; 199 x 130 mm.). [viii], 301, [3, blank] pages. Publisher's light blue cloth, spine lettered in silver; top edge of the text block stained dark blue (faded), other edges trimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, priced $2.50. Spine just barely askew; spine ends and board edges slightly dulled; upper corners tapped. Top edge of the text lightly soiled, with the top stain faded (still visible near the bound edge); pastedowns faintly discolored near the hinge from binding glue. Spine panel a little faded, as usual, but still retaining some of the reddish color; spine ends and fold edges lightly worn; folds rubbed; narrow vertical strips on either side of the panel folds of faintly tanned on the verso. Near fine. [Together with:] Another copy, first edition, advance issue. Publisher's perfect binding in the original wrappers (an example of the dust jacket trimmed slightly shorter). Spine creased; backstrip faded; edges and folds somewhat worn; rear panel rubbed with a touch of soiling. "Eyes" rubber stamped on the first flyleaf. Very good. Source material for the 1948 John Farrow film of the same name, starring Edward G. Robinson and Gail Russell. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
