Eighth edition, Conan Doyle's copy with his bookplate and previous ownership signature, dated 1917. Octavo (8.5 x 5.5 inches; 217 x 140 mm.). xx, 524, [2, blank] pages; frontispiece, large folding map (hand-colored), several illustrated plates with captioned leaves inserted, numerous in-text illustrations throughout. Publisher's light green cloth, spine lettered and stamped in gilt, front board stamped in blind. Backstrip very faintly dulled; spine ends softly pushed with minimal wear; boards with a few minor blemishes; bottom edge of the rear board bumped with a small tear to the cloth; corners very lightly worn, corners of the rear board bumped. Free endpapers tanned; page edges and margins very lightly toned. Very good. From the collection of Bob Terry.
