Inscribed by Saint-Saëns on the front blank: "à monsieur Erkel Sandor/l'Homage de l'autour/C. Saint-Saëns". This copy bound for the opera's director (M. Vaucorbeil), with a printed presentation leaf at the front. Large octavo. 390 pages. Bound into later quarter purple cloth over marbled boards, manuscript paper label on spine. Front wrapper preserved in binding. Binding worn and browned, text browned and brittle, with many tears. Shaken. A fair copy, with an excellent association.
