    Description

    Missal Manuscript on Vellum Altar Service 1655 in Latin Ad. Maiorem. Dei. Gloriam S:Maria. B:Iohanna. Liber. Pro. Hebdommedaria. Heerren Anno. 1655. 101 Leaves on heavy vellum and four leaves on paper, each leaf is approximately 9.25" x 11.25" containing two columns of fine Gothic calligraphy (about 18 pt. size) in black, red, and blue with frequent, small sections of square notes. The manuscript appears to be from the Netherlands. Bound in 18th Century tooled calf over beveled boards, with metal clasps, corner piece ornaments. The center metal ornament is dated 1737, and the metal appears to be silver. The front cover has some worm holes. Very attractive example of a 17th Century Missal, pleasing to the eye and touch.
