DescriptionMickey Spillane. Production Archive for The Goliath Bone. Circa 2005. Includes original typescript manuscripts, facsimile copies of edited typescript, and notebook paper with holographic annotation, possibly in Spillane's hand. Various sizes, majority measuring 11 x 8.5 inches. On yellow and white paper and notebook paper, loose sheets. General handling wear and light edgewear, a few pages somewhat creased. Large Christian Science Monitor article titled "Promote Iraqi Women's Rights within an Islamic Framework" laid-in. Overall, a very good physical example of the writer's process.
[together with:] Mickey Spillane with Max Allan Collins. The Goliath Bone. Orlando: An Otto Penzler Book / Harcourt, . First edition. Publisher's dual-colored paper-covered boards, spine lettered in gilt, dust jacket. Lower board edges lightly rubbed. Still, a near fine copy of the completed novel. From the estate of Mickey Spillane.
Before Spillane's death in 2006, he had been at work on a new Mike Hammer novel entitled The Goliath Bone where his hard-boiled detective character would be involved in a case in a post 9/11 world. However, his manuscript was still incomplete at the time of his passsing, about 55 pages in addition to notes and old versions of revised chapters. His literary executor and friend Max Allan Collins would take up the mantle and complete this manuscript for its publication in 2008, as well as others that had been unfinished or left behind by Spillane.
