    Description

Mickey Spillane. Group of Three Late-Career Typescripts. [New York: circa 2003-2007]. Manuscript material for the last book published in Spillane's lifetime and two Mike Hammer novels eventually completed by Max Allan Collins.

    More Information:

Mickey Spillane. Production Archive for Something's Down There. [New York: Simon and Schuster, circa 2003]. Typescript (possibly mechanically reproduced), with some passages in multiple drafts; setting manuscript with numerous revisions; and author's proof. Also includes several notes, with typed preliminary outlines and sticky notes inserted throughout. Loose quarto sheets (8.5 x 11 inches). Typescript presumed complete in 143 leaves, concluding in chapter 17, grouped by chapter with a paperclip in the upper-left corner; setting manuscript in 363 leaves; artist's proof in 280 leaves. Printed rectos only; numerous corrections throughout. Page edges worn; some pages toned; some marginal foxing and staining; discoloration and indentations caused by paperclips. Very good overall. The last Mickey Spillane book published in his lifetime.

[Together with]: Partial Typescript of The Dead Street. [Likely Murrells Inlet: circa mid-2000s]. Typescript (possibly mechanically reproduced); xerographically facsimile of the typescript; and three ink-jet printouts of the text (one with corrections); and a couple leaves of typed notes. Loose quarto sheets (8.5 x 11 inches). Eight chapters, of an eventual eleven, on fifty-five leaves (eighty-nine leaves for the inkjet printout); grouped by chapter with a paperclip in the upper-left corner. General light wear, particularly to page edges; some light toning; occasional marginal staining; discoloration and indentations from paperclips. Very good. The first posthumously published Mickey Spillane novel, finished by Max Allan Collins. Features Mike Hammer.

[And:] Preliminary Notes for The Goliath Bone. [Likely Murrells Inlet: circa mid-2000s]. Approximately dozen leaves of preliminary notes in manuscript and typescript as well as what appear to be early typescript drafts of the opening passages and the ending (possibly mechanically reproduced); with a xerographic copy of the original edited typescript (incomplete), ending on page 62, lacking a couple pages with numerous inserts and a few duplicates. Predominately loose quarto sheets (8.5 x 11 inches), some smaller leaves laid in throughout, two leaves slightly taller. General light wear throughout; taller leaves worn along bottom edge. Near fine. Includes a first edition copy of the book. Published posthumously in 2008, finished by Max Allan Collins. Mike Hammer takes on Al Qaeda and finally marries Velda. From the Estate of Mickey Spillane.
