"This is a response to Aubin's book [Histoire des diables de Loudun]. 'Few works of this type have been as much read as this one,' states La Menardaye (circa 1688-1758), and 'few have been given so much credence,' but 'the alleged history is a most unworthy calumny against the whole Catholic Church...full of contradictions, the greatest impostures, and palpable absurdities.' The Examen is written as a series of discussions between an uncle and his nephew. The nephew has read Aubin and was impressed, but the uncle convinces him, step by step, that Aubin is wrong. According to La Menardaye, the nuns, exorcists, Laubardemont, the judges were all people of the highest probity; the witnesses who came forward to testify produced a solid body of evidence against Grandier; Richelieu was concerned with moral standards and the public order, not personal vengeance; the doctors did indeed find the devil's marks on Grandier; and the nun's convulsions, levitation, and knowledge of foreign languages and secret thoughts were all valid... This is a long book but well argued, and it gives the orthodox Catholic position of its day--one that had already been held for a century and would hold constant for more than another hundred years." -Robert Rapley, A Case of Witchcraft: The Trial of Urban Grandier, 1998.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
