    More Information: Nich[olas] Culpeper. A Physical Directory. Or a Translation of the Dispensatory Made by the Colledg of Physitians of London, and by them imposed upon all the Apothecaries of England to make up their Medicines by. London: Peter Cole, 1651. Third edition, with "A Key to Galen's Method of Physick" added. Folio in twos. [14], 138, [4], 139-184, [18] pages. Portrait frontispiece, head- and tail-pieces, initials. Contemporary full leather; ruled in blind. All edges trimmed. Spine ends mostly gone; joints beginning to split at both ends; edge wear; crackling and rubbing to surface of binding; some spot staining and small gouges to boards, corners bumped. Edges of text block darkened. Multiple (presumed blank) flyleaves appear to have been excised at front and rear of text block; blank leaves that remain are toned, frayed at edges, contain numerous manuscript notes in ink and pencil. General age yellowing throughout text block. Leaf 2O2 torn from bottom edge to about halfway up. About very good interior in a good binding. Manuscript notes on recto of portrait leaf beginning, "John Carr His Book London." With bookplate of Alfred M Hellman affixed to front pastedown; catalog entry tipped in above. Translated and adapted from the "Pharmacopoeia Londinensis" of the Royal College of Physicians. ESTC R24898.
