    More Information:

Guy Patin (1601-72), a noted physician of Paris, was known for a sarcastic wit and entertaining conversation along the lines of sarcasm.  Although his medical opinions tended to deny the dictates of progress, students flocked to read his theses on account of their pronounced erudition in Latin, and many considered him to have the air and countenance of Cicero with the disposition of Rabelais.  Gabriel Naude (1600-1653), father of French bibliography and librarian to Mazarin and Queen Christina of Sweden, was well known for his liberal view of religion and was respected for his scholarship.  Perhaps he is most famous for his defense of famous historical figures against the charge of practicing magic, but here in this work is related many of the particulars of his thought as well as his own biography. STCN 170312 (1 copy). Aude, Ana, #73.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
