    John-Lewis Petit. Treatise of the Diseases of the Bones; Containing an Exact and Compleat Account of the Nature, Signs, Causes and Cures Thereof, in all Their Various Kinds.... London: Printed for T. Woodward, 1726. First edition in English (translated from the enlarged French edition of 1723). Octavo. xvi, 490, [6] pages. Numerous woodcuts in text illustrating various dressings, instruments and machines. Contemporary calf. Titles stamped in gilt on a morocco spine label. Boards scuffed and well worn with areas of loss to the leather at the corners and spine ends, including a small area at the upper left corner of the front board. Spine panel crazed. Hinges weak. Lacking front and rear endpapers. Contents toned with moderate to heavy foxing throughout. 1" x 3" portion at the top of the preface page lacking, not affecting text. Hand-written presentation in pencil dated 1914 on front pastedown, otherwise a very good copy. Garrison-Morton 4300.
