Harvey Cushing. Nonce Volume with Twenty-Eight Cushing Offprints. [Various: 1898-1922]. Offprint editions, bound in one volume with bibliography, together titled H.C. Reprints 1898-1922, with signature of Elliott Cutler at front free endpaper. Largest pamphlet, approximately 10.75 x 8.5 inches. Near-contemporary half leather maroon cloth boards with gilt titles and decorations at spine. Front board detached; edges worn with corners and spine ends worn through, some scratches to leather and mild shelf soil to cloth. A very good collection in a good binding. Includes: Bibliography of Harvey Cushing, M.D. Volume 1, (1898-1922). Eleven page typescript with various offprints dating from 1898 to 1922, mostly regarding neurosurgery and his work on pituitary adenoma and Cushing's disease.

A pioneer of American medicine, Cushing is remembered as a "father of neurosurgery," a perennial candidate for the Nobel Prize and winner of the Pulitzer prize for his biography of Sir William Osler. This volume appears to have belonged to his colleague and successor at Harvard Medical School Elliott Carr Cutler, bearing his signature at the front free endpaper and initials ECC penned on several volumes.
