[Robert F. Kennedy, assn]. Samuel Cooper. A Dictionary of Practical Surgery... NY: Harper, 1834. Later edition. Robert F. Kennedy's copy.

    More Information:

[Robert F. Kennedy, association]. Samuel Cooper. A Dictionary of Practical Surgery... New York: Harper & Brothers, 1834. Later American edition, taken from the sixth London edition. Robert F. Kennedy's copy, with his ink ownership stamp on the front free endpaper.

Two octavo volumes in one. [4, ads], [490], 510, [2, blank] pages. Contemporary full brown calf, four raised bands on spine, black gilt morocco lettering label. Binding worn, scuffed, and soiled, previous owner's bookplate and ink notations on front endleaves (not affecting Kennedy's stamp), endleaves soiled and offset, text slightly toned and foxed, textblock soiled at edges. Overall, good. An unusual selection from Kennedy's library, not normally associated with his interests.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
