[Bill Wilson]. Alcoholics Anonymous. The Story of How Many Thousands of Men and Women Have Recovered from Alcoholism. New York City: Works Publishing, 1939. First edition, first printing. Octavo. [x], 400, [6, blank] pages. Publisher's red cloth, front board and spine lettered in gilt. Spine sunned, some wear to corners, binding soiled. Text a bit toned, gutter facing the half-title starting, endleaves somewhat thumbsoiled, a few leaves creased at upper corner, some soiling to edges of text block. Previous owner's (George B. Nienaber) inscription on front pastedown in blue ink, as well as his embossed ownership stamp on the Contents page, page 1, and the first page of the Appendix. There is a note on the front free endpaper (possibly in the previous owner's hand) in red ink: "One of 1st 100 - Pub in 1939 [illegible superscript] April." Still, a good copy of the famous "Big Red Book."
