    With a Long Inscription Signed by Bill Wilson to Dr. Harry Fosdick, Who Wrote an Influential Review of the Big Book in 1939

    First edition. Inscribed and signed by Wilson in the year of publication to Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick on the front free endpaper. Octavo. 192 pages.

    Publisher's black cloth over blue-gray paper boards with gilt spine titles. In original dust jacket printed in purple and black and lettered in white. Minor edge wear to boards. Light wear to extremities of dust jacket. Spine lightly sunned. Two small nicks to the panels. A near fine copy.

    Wilson inscribes the book to Fosdick as follows: "Dear Dr. Fosdick - / Please have this / little token of the / great gratitude that / the Alcoholics Anonymous / will ever have for you. / Devotedly / Bill Wilson / NY / 3/26/53." Dr. Fosdick wrote a very influential review of the first edition of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1939, a review that helped spread the AA movement throughout the world.
