    More Information:

    Ficino (1433-1499) son of the physician to Cosimo d'Medici, dedicated himself to the study of Plato and neo-Platonic thought. His translations of the whole of Plato and Plotinus into Latin were key elements in the Renaissance rebirth of Platonic thought.Ficino's treatise on the plague was first published in 1481. He was responding to an outbreak in 1478-9. He proposed that the contagion was caused by bad air and cites authorities on treatment. It is joined in this edition by plague treatises of other authors:  Bianchelli, Mengo (ca.1440-1520?); Del_Garbo, Tommaso (ca. 1305-1370);Manardi, Giovanni (1462-1536); & Rainaldi, Niccol˜ (15th c.).
