S. edition, early issue, with the following points: page [13], the illustration captioned 'Him and another Man' is incorrectly listed as at page 88 (BAL first state); page 57, the eleventh line from the bottom reads 'with the was' instead of 'with the saw' (BAL first state). MacDonnell's first state of 'Huck Decided' instead of "Huck Decides" under "Chapter VI" on page [9]. Ex Will M. Clemens, author of Mark Twain: The Story of His Life and Work, with his bookplate. Octavo. [2, blank], 366, [2, blank] pages. Inserted frontispiece portrait and wood-engraved text illustrations by E. W. Kemble. Original green decorated cloth, front board and spine pictorially stamped and lettered in gilt and black. Spine ends repaired. Boards lightly rubbed, corners a bit bumped, rear board faintly stained on upper corner. Text block edges lightly browned, previous owner signature on preliminary blank, occasional dust soiling on outer margins, two bookplates. A very good copy with a great association.
