Looking as if it came fresh off the Corleone family bookshelf, a gorgeous copy of this title housed in a suitably aesthetic case. Of course, there is no discussing book to film adaptations without a discussion of The Godfather, adapted to the silver screen in 1972, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Though production faced a rocky start with struggles in selecting a director and in casting, it pulled through to universal acclaim, ten Academy Award nominations (of which it won three), and a steady spot on the top ten list of highest-grossing films in history. Coppola's work is widely regarded as one of the most influential films ever made, ranked second (behind Citizen Kane) by the American Film institute and chosen for preservation by the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.
