    Description

    United States Bureau of Topographical Engineers. Map of Texas and Part of New Mexico Compiled in the Bureau of Topographical Engrs. chiefly for military purposes. 40" x 34.5", New York: Lith. of Ritchie & Dunnavant. 1857. With great detail on features of military importance; including railroads, maps, waterways and more.

    Created primarily for official use, only a small number were printed. The only two auction records for this map is in 2016, when it sold for $12,000, and in 2017 when it sold at Heritage Auctions for $7,500. The only other record is a 1964 Eberstadt listing with a price of $250.

    Condition: Flattened folds. Toning, chipping, and small tears along right vertical edge. Small area of soiling at lower right, otherwise very fine.
