    Description

Three Engraved Battle Plans of the Mahratta War 1817-19. From Maps and Plans Illustrating the Memoir of the Operations of the British Army in India, During the Mahratta War of 1817, 1818, & 1819 by Lieut.-Colonel Valentine Blacker, London: Printed for Black, Kingsbury, Parbury, and Allen, 1821.

Each plan measures 11 x 15 inches and features various plans of attack including the attack on Asseer Ghur, attack on the fort at Rajdeir, and attack of Chakun. All plans were engraved by Sidney Hall, Bury Street, Bloomsbury. The paper has toned slightly, especially about the edges, else all examples are in very good condition. Small red ink stamps from the New York Mercantile library on two examples. These examples would make lovely additions to a home study or classroom. Precious little has been written of the Mahratta campaign.
