Lorenz Fries. Orbis Typus Universalis. Iuxta Hydrographorum Traditionem Exactissime Depicta. [Strasbourg]: 1522. Map of the known world, including South America. Single sheet, uncolored (15.5 x 21 inches; 404 x 534 mm.). Middle crease restored, with some very slight discoloration; general age toning of sheet. One or two small spots of soiling. Three small squares of what appears to be cloth tape at top edge of verso, possibly from where the map was once mounted; do not appear to be repairs. Very good. First included in Fries's 1522 edition of Ptolemy's Geographia. Features directional lines and names of the winds around the edges of the map. England and Scotland are separate islands. Includes Cuba, here called "Isabella" after the Spanish queen, and Hispaniola. One of the earliest maps to include the name "America," here affixed to South America only. North America not depicted.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
