Lorenz Fries [after Martin Waldseemüller]. Oceani Ocidentalis seu Terre Nove Tabula. [Terra Nova]. Strasbourg: [approx. 1525]. Map of the Atlatinc Ocean, identifying the eastern coast of the Americas. From Ptolemy's Geography, third or fourth Strasbourg editions. Single sheet, two pages (15.75 x 20.75 inches; 401 x 529 mm). Uncolored. Slight edge wear, mostly at bottom; short mended tears, chips at edges; faintly toned repairs to central crease. Some light spot soiling, rubbing. Very good, clean and bright. A reduced version of Waldseemüller's 1513 map, taken from Fries's 1522 or later edition of Ptolemy's Geographia, with Latin text on verso. Featuring the eastern edge of the Americas, here called "Terra Nova" (South America) and "Parias" (North America), with some Caribbean islands, including Cuba (named "Isabella Insul." and marked with a Spanish flag) and Hispaniola, present-day Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Florida is a peninsula. Decorated with vignette of cannibalistic natives and a fanciful rendering of an opossum.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
