    Jodocus Hondius. America. [Amsterdam: circa 1606]. Map of the Americas. Single sheet, two pages (15 x 20.625 inches; 381 x 523 mm.). Colored. Repaired and reinforced middle fold; two mended tears at bottom edge. Some later added color. Regular toning; some light marginal foxing, thumbsoiling. Very good. Numerous vignettes of European, Asian, and New World vessels; various sea monsters, including whales and flying fish. Cartouche at lower left depicts indigenous Brazilians preparing a cassava or "mandioca" brew. One of the most notable early maps of the Americas from the golden age of Dutch cartography.
