Herman Moll. A New Map of the North Parts of America claimed by France. [London]: 1720 (likely 1730). Original large-format map of North America featuring most of California as an island. Two sheets (24.5 x 40.5 inches; 622 x 1029 mm. (sight)). Matted and framed for an overall size of 32 x 48 inches. Outline color, with a full color inset view of Sasquesahanok in Virginia and two detailed plans for Annapolis and the mouth of the Mississippi; numerous printed annotations. Few instances of faint spotting (mostly, it seems, in the Gulf of Mexico); light wear to creases; soft ridge to the right of the centerfold; shallow rippling to the upper-left corner. Appears very good, not inspected out of frame.
