    Description

Anthony Finley (publisher). A New General Atlas... representing the Grade Divisions of the Globe. Philadelphia: Anthony Finley, 1827. Early edition (first appeared three years earlier and again in 1825). Folio (13.375 x 10.625 inches; 340 x 270 mm.). Engraved title and index; general statistical table (background hand-colored); fifty-eight hand-colored maps and two hand-colored plates comparing mountain heights and river lengths. Publisher's red half-roan over marbled paper-covered boards, bright orange engraved paper label affixed to the front board. Binding broken, backstrip perished, boards detached, sewing still partially holding, though the block is split between maps thirty-two and thirty-three. Boards worn; paper label soiled and chipped at the edges. Maps with some light marginal soiling and occasional light brown staining but generally quite bright. Good but with nice plates.
