Original western hemisphere map, with the bulge in South America, from the first world atlas, Ortelius's Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. Two pages (16 x 21.5 inches; 406 x 545 mm.). Full hand-coloring; ornamental border; roman letter text on the recto of the first leaf. Paper repairs on the verso of the centerfold, causing very faint discoloration in the margins; edges faintly toned; very light marginal soiling. Very good.
